Phonics are going to be a huge deal when she gets to school age, so introducing toys etc that are based on them are good. Leapfrog used to do two great toys (they live on our fridge) both a phonics for the alphabet and a word builder to help them blend the phonics sounds into their first three letter words, but I can't seem to find them on general sale here. Leapfrog as a brand are very good though. They have great developmental 'toys' aimed at preparing them for / backing up preschool and school. <br /><br />Messy play sets like playdough and the likes are also really important for developing fine motor skills for holding pencils and writing. Though girls are far better at it than boys. First board games or card games are great at this age too, and something they will do in preschool as well. <br /><br />I have no idea if this helps at all, but its an angle to consider.
